Redlight Cams
I was reading a story on my local ABC network’s website about red light runners, the accidents and deaths they cause, and the various ways that have come up to reduce those numbers. Of course, the most widely discussed method are the red light cameras that are being used at a lot of intersections in Dallas and Fort Worth.
While I type this I can see a ticket from one of those cameras sitting on my desk. It isn’t mine, but I was using it to show my mother that while the ticket itself only shows a picture of her car, online it shows a video of her running the light.
She knew it that day because she called me asking if it would ticket her. She said she was half way through the intersection when the light went red, but the video shows that the light turned red 2 seconds before she reached the crosswalk line.
It’s a good idea to use them, despite the many claims that it’s a backhanded attempt by the city to collect more revenue; a lot of the tickets aren’t being paid. Red light runners still get away with it, and have little reason to avoid that behavior in the future.
An Introduction, Of Sorts
I really do enjoy playing around with Wordpress. It’s just a great piece of software for managing a website, and not just for blogging either. You can do a lot of things like turn it into a photo gallery, a video blog, a podcast blog, and even a content management system (CMS). It’s a fully featured software and because it’s open source, there are always new features being added in the form of plugins.
I use Wordpress for this site, as well as my other site, Broke Sanity. I use more than 30 plugins with 12 widgets to maximize usage, content, and technology.
So I’ve got this new site, which is simply me in every way, including the address and name. I’ve also been running bs.com for more than three years, so now I look at it as a way to expand what I write about. Though this isn’t a problem I’ve faced before, no, this is a new problem for me since bs.com has taken the turn it has.
A little thing happened at Carter Bloodcare, and since my wife and my mother both work there, and because I found what happened to be about as frustrating as arguing with a brick wall, I posted about it. Then I posted about it again, and again, and again until finally a news story had been featured by my local CBS network, then it was done. But it wasn’t really done, because I’m still getting new information about it all.
